Panel 1: Humanitarian logistics

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Hellingrath heads the research group for Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the University of Münster. After finishing his studies in mathematics and computer science he acquired his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the University of Dortmund. He worked for the Fraunhofer Institute Material Flow and Logistics for several years, heading the main department “Enterprise Modelling”. After a professorship at the University of Paderborn in the topic of planning and modelling of production and logistics networks he changed as a full professor to the University of Münster in 2008. Here he is also acting as a director for the European Research Center for Information Systems. One focus of his work is the area of “Humanitarean Logistics”, where he headed a working group of the German Logistics Council in the recent years.
